It’s not hard to see that the action stylings of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World were inspired somewhat by The Matrix. In fact, The Matrix paved the way for a lot of the action films of the past decade – what with its super slo-mo fight scenes mixed with fantastical leaps, kicks and punches. Some of the greatest assets of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World are its well-planned fight scenes, and naturally it didn’t take long for someone to connect the dots and piece together a trailer mash-up that includes both The Matrix and Scott Pilgrim. (Plus both films share the same cinematographer, Bill Pope, and so they just … well, sort of go together like peanut butter and jelly anyway.)
In Scott Pilgrim vs. The Matrix, some dude by the name of AEMOVIEGUY took the sound from the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World trailer and edited it in a ton of footage from all three Matrix movies, going so far as to manipulate the actual dialogue from the Matrix films to make it look like the characters were speaking the same lines as those in Scott Pilgrim.
It truly is one of the best trailer mash-ups I’ve seen all year, and while the dialogue manipulation seems a bit shaky in parts, the editing is so fine and so much fun to watch that we forget all about those little details. Watch it below and let us know what you think.
