Last month, 53% picked Scream 4 as their most anticipated movie for April. April sleeper hit (is it safe to call a fifth Fast and the Furious movie a sleeper?) Fast Five managed 12.5% of the vote to come in second while Rio and Hop, both animated films that have topped $100 million worldwide, only came in with 2% of the vote.

With that in mind, it's time to turn toward the summer movie season, with blockbusters hitting theaters nearly every weekend. It begins this week with the arrival of Thor, the first of several superhero movies this season. Early buzz has been favorable for the Chris Hemsworth movie. Current reviews on Rotten Tomatoes have the movie rated at 95% fresh, and the movie has already grossed over $80 million internationally. The following week, we have Paul Bettany's Priest followed by the return of Capt. Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides on May 20th. Memorial Day weekend brings a pair of highly anticipated sequels with Kung Fu Panda 2 and The Hangover: Part II.
While the month may seem heavy on action, there are also plenty of rom coms that will hit the screens. Judd Apatow returns to theaters with his Paul Feig-directed, Kristen Wiig-led Bridesmaids, Paula Patton stars in Jumping the Broom and the Hilary Swank-produced Something Borrowed features Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin falling for the same guy.
On the indie slate, Mel Gibson returns in Jodie Foster's The Beaver while Will Ferrell and Rebecca Hall star in the dramedy Everything Must Go. And then there's the latest offerings from veteran directors Woody Allen (Rachel McAdams and Owen Wilson in Midnight in Paris) and film auteur Terrence Malick's long-awaited drama (Brad Pitt in Tree of Life).
