Fandango to Represent at Masters of the Web Comic-Con Panel
The annual Masters of the Web Comic-Con panel was officially announced yesterday, and yours truly (Fandango blogger, Robert Pattinson look-a-like and all around awesome dude) was invited to participate alongside some of the best the web has to offer with regards to movie reporting. Transformers and Star Trek writer Roberto Orci will moderate along with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World director Edgar Wright, and I will be joined by the head honchos from sites like Movies.com, Screenrant, JoBlo, IESB, Cinematical and CHUD.
So if you're heading to Comic-Con this year, definitely make sure you stop by the Masters of the Web panel on Thursday at 3pm. Not only will you get to high five me live in person (swoon!), but you'll also have a chance to win some awesome prizes, including one free year of movies from AMC Entertainment. More info here. See you then!
Neill Blomkamp Not Directing 'The Hobbit'
For some it was almost too good to be true. I told you I didn't have a good feeling about this rumor, and Vulture – who followed up with Blomkamp's reps – have confirmed that, sadly, it's not true at all. Neill Blomkamp will not be directing The Hobbit, and he never had anything to do with the film in the first place. Sad face. Instead, he's still busy working on his new, original sci-fi film, titled Elysium.
Now that we know Blomkamp isn't involved, all we can pretty much do is wait until something more substantial comes along. Chances are good, though, that the longer we go without hearing any news, the more likely all parties involved are waiting to make an official announcement at Comic-Con in late July.
Who do you think should direct The Hobbit?
Nathan Fillion and Eva Longoria Rumored to be in 'The Avengers'
These are two names we've heard before in relation to The Avengers, and they're two names that are popping back up again – this time over at Comic Book Movie, who claim (via an inside source) that both Nathan Fillion and Eva Longoria have signed on to star in The Avengers. They say Fillion is in the middle of signing one of those multi-film contracts that will not only tie him down to The Avengers, but also any sequels and spin-offs that should come out of that.
So who are they playing? Well, Fillion will of course be playing Dr. Hank Pym, who eventually turns into Ant-Man. Meanwhile, Longoria – who was rumored to be involved with Marvel after she was spotted leaving their offices with a stack of comics last year – is said to be playing Janet Van Dyne, who eventually becomes the comic character Wasp.
Still awaiting official confirmation on the castings, but if they hold up are you happy with the decisions?
