Marvel has been throwing its weight around lately, teasing Captain America: The Winter Soldier as audiences buckle in for next month’s Thor: The Dark World. But Fox wants folks to remember that it has its own massive, mutant superhero franchise with a sequel in the pipeline, and promotion is about to step up in a big way.

Bryan Singer is hard at work editing down X-Men: Days of Future Past, a sprawling adventure that will combine characters from his classic X-Men movies as well as the younger versions of these comic book icons that were showcased in the First Class film. Several hi-res images were shared with Empire ahead of next week’s full-length Days of Future Past trailer, which is expected to drop on Tuesday, October 29.

In hopes of raising awareness for next week’s trailer release, Singer even took to Instagram to sneak-peek a few seconds of footage cut together in rapid succession. Get your first (very quick) look at the X-Men in action!

The full trailer will fill in several gaps from the X-Men story, which takes place in two different time periods but will be connected by Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, who will have to go back to the 1970s to help the First Class cast deal with a rising threat.

Do you have questions as to how Singer will handle time travel, Sentinels and massive X-Men ensemble? The director plans to participate in an X-Men Twitter conversation on October 28. Use the hash tag #AskSinger, and you just might get your question answered.

Until then, look for the X-Men: Days of Future Past trailer on Fandango on Tuesday, and look for the movie in theaters on May 23, 2014.
