What to Watch on FandangoNOW: ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,’ ‘Cats’ and Springtime Classics

Want to know what’s coming soon to digital and what to watch right now on FandangoNOW? Here is your weekly guide to the latest releases, deals and announcements:

Are any big upcoming movies going straight to digital release?

Yes, sort of. Universal announced plans this week to put the animated sequel Trolls World Tour out on digital/VOD for a premium rental price on April 10, offering it at home on the same day it's in theaters where available The film is still scheduled to also arrive in theaters on that day, too. You can catch up on Trolls by watching the first film on FandangoNOW.

Will other new Universal theatrical titles follow suit?

While the studio has moved the theatrical release of the Fast & Furious sequel F9 to April 2021, other upcoming Universal titles have not yet been changed. However, some films currently in theaters like The Hunt, The Invisible Man and Focus Features' Emma are hitting digital for premium rental ($19.99) on March 20.

What does premium rental mean?

It just means that the rental price is a drop higher due to the film still being a new release straight from theaters.

What about new independent films?

Annie Silverstein’s award-winning festival favorite Bull, which had been scheduled for release both in theaters and on digital March 20, will now arrive only on digital/VOD on May 1.

What other recent movies will we be able to watch at home earlier than usual?

Along with this week’s early releases of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Just Mercy, both Birds of Prey and The Gentlemen are moving up their digital dates, now arriving on March 24.

What are the biggest new movies to watch now?

To Buy: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is definitely the biggest new release available for purchase this week (also available as part of the nine-movie Skywalker Saga bundle), followed by the Broadway musical adaptation Cats and the Oscar-winning World War I drama 1917.

To Rent: Check out the Will Smith animated feature Spies in Disguise, the Mister Rogers biopic A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood starring Tom Hanks and the fantasy adventure sequel Jumanji: The Next Level.

Can you recommend some great binge bundles to rent?

Rather than just renting the new Charlie’s Angels reboot, you can rent that plus the early 2000s movies, Charlie’s Angels and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, together for under $10.

Want a family movie night double feature? Try the new releases Playing with Fire and Dora and the Lost City of Gold, which are discounted when rented together.

How about some Springtime classics?

With this weekend marking the beginning of Spring, we recommend buying the Disney animated classic Bambi and renting the musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers for its “Spring Spring Spring” number and Mean Girls for its buildup to the Spring Fling dance.

Are we celebrating any big anniversaries this week?

The original Final Destination turns 20 this week (check out the whole franchise in one collection), and the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid (also available in a franchise collection) turns 10.

Which must-see movies are coming soon to FandangoNOW?

Robert Downey Jr. talks to animals in the fantasy adventure Dolittle, out on March 24, Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots are a couple trapped in suburbia in the sci-fi thriller Vivarium, out on March 27, and Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne star as cosmetics entrepreneurs in the comedy Like a Boss, available April 7.
