A little while ago, Variety reported that James Cameron’s Avatar had grossed $77.3 million over the weekend, which is up from the $72 million originally reported. Why is that a big deal? Well, because it means the film has now beaten I Am Legend ($77.2 million) for the best ever December weekend opening. These numbers come despite the fact that there was a major snow storm on the East Coast that kept a lot of people away from theaters.

On Friday I asked you to help predict exactly how much Avatar would make in its first weekend, though only 15% of you chose between $60-80 million, which is where the film eventually ended up. 37% of you thought it would make over $150 million -- and it did if you combine domestic and worldwide totals, so I guess, technically, you’re right too. But enough with the number crunching, we want to know what you thought about the film.

Was Avatar everything you imagined it would be? Was it the greatest moviegoing experience ever? What did you think about the special effects? Were they groundbreaking? Will they change the way we watch movies, as the marketing has suggested? What about the story? People have criticized it for being too cliché and familiar – do you agree or disagree? And finally – what about a sequel? Would you watch it?
