One of the big Comic-Con standouts was the upcoming DC film Suicide Squad, which takes the unique approach of being all about the villains. The movie is a little over a year away from hitting theaters and it's still in production, but director David Ayer wanted to spread the noise a bit farther than San Diego and so he released the Comic-Con footage online.
Check it out below.
Suicide Squad features a top-secret group of supervillains recruited to run suicide missions for the government to try to gain their freedom. The key to their dark appeal, however, is that they are not all evil; rather, they are the modern-day equivalent of The Dirty Dozen, the 1967 action movie about soldiers convicted of murder.
Director Ayer's penchant for military movies, as in last year's World War II tank movie Fury with Brad Pitt, means he's a great fit for the material; expect these supervillains to display a lot of roguish charm.
The Cast: Adam Beech as Slipknot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo.
Oh, and Ben Affleck as Batman!
Suicide Squad is due in theaters on August 5, 2016. What do you think of the new trailer?
