As the Super Bowl approaches this Sunday, we're beginning to get a feel for which movie trailers will be debuting during the big game. Some studios are sitting this one out, including Warner Bros. and Sony, so don't expect anything from films like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or Ghostbusters.
From superheroes to long-awaited sequels, here's a list of movies we expect to see new previews for on Sunday.
Bourne 5 (July 29)
What we're hearing: It's not officially confirmed (though the author of the most recent Jason Bourne novel kinda let the cat out of the bag on social media), but chances are strong that the only movie we'll be seeing the first footage from come Sunday will be the next Bourne installment, which will most assuredly reveal its title along with the trailer.
Independence Day: Resurgence (June 24)
The first Independence Day movie announced itself to the world with a big, splashy Super Bowl trailer, ushering in a new age where fans could very much look forward to seeing some of the year's biggest movies teased during the game. There's no official confirmation as of yet, but with stars from the movie confirmed to attend the game, we can all but guarantee this film will have a major presence.
Eddie the Eagle (February 26)
Deadpool (February 12)
X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27)
Fox has a couple of 30-second spots lined up, so look for them to use one to tout Deadpool, which arrives in theaters later that week. And then the other will either go to another superhero movie in X-Men: Apocalypse, or the feel-good Eddie the Eagle.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (June 3)
Word is Paramount will be using its time to tease the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel and not Star Trek Beyond, most likely to play to all the families watching the game together.
The Jungle Book (April 15) - (a tease for this is now live, watch below)
Captain America: Civil War (May 6)
Alice Through the Looking Glass (May 27)
Finding Dory (June 17)
Disney will dole out more than one TV spot on Sunday, and we expect any or all of these four movies to be teased, with the top three (Jungle Book, Civil War, Alice Through the Looking Glass) the most likely since they have the earlier release dates.
We'll continue to update this list through Sunday, and make sure to check back during the game as we'll have all of this year's TV spots (and extended trailers) right here.
