This week Empire's new issue hits newsstands and while the cover boasts that it contains a 30-page preview of the Oscars, that's not nearly as important as the exclusive images and interviews it snagged for Suicide Squad, one of 2016's most intriguing superhero, er, supervillian movies.

In addition to new looks of the Joker and Harley Quinn (see below), the magazine is also going to have alternate covers for most - if not all - of the key Suicide Squad members.

Here's who we've got so far:

Harley Quinn

Played by: Margot Robbie

What's her deal: We don't know exactly what storyline(s) the movie will be doing, but broadly speaking in comic terms, Harley Quinn starts out as a psychiatrist who turns to a life of crime after she falls in love with one of her patients at Arkham Asylum, who just so happens to be the Joker.

Deadshot

Played by: Will Smith

What's his deal: One of the older DC Comics characters in the Squad, Deadshot is one of the world's best assassins thanks to claims that his aim never, ever misses. Also in the comics, he's put in jail by Batman, so maybe we'll get to see a quick flashback that shows that.

Enchantress

Played by: Cara Delevingne

What's her deal: Delevingne technically plays two different roles in the movie. First as June Moone, an adventure seeker who explores the wrong cave and ends up becoming the vessel for the spirit of the Enchantress, an ancient sorceress.

The Joker

Played by: Jared Leto

What's his deal: Everyone knows who the Joker is, so there's not much explanation necessary. He's an agent of anarchy who loves to create chaos in Gotham City. Obviously they're going for a wildly different look from the Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson versions of the character, but director David Ayer promises Leto's take on the Joker will be genuinely scary.

And we've also got some more new stills from the movie, starting with new looks at Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), the mastermind behind the whole squad.

We've also got two new looks at Adewala Akinnuoye-Agbahe as Killer Croc, who the actor describes as "a cannibal with rage issues."

And then a look at the initial doctor-patient relationship between Joker and Quinn:

And lastly Enchantress in full sorceress mode:

The Suicide Squad-heavy issue of Empire hits later this week, so expect more reveals as it gets closer.
