More. It is the buzzword surrounding every sequel. Show the audience what they liked about the first movie, but find a way to give them more of it.

Similar to Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins, J.J. Abrams’ recent Star Trek found a brilliant way to reboot a familiar franchise … and also end on an upswing that promised larger adventures with this remade cast. The sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness, has been teasing fans for weeks now with posters and clips. Many fans went to The Hobbit this weekend just to see a 9-minute IMAX commercial for the Star Trek sequel.

Those of you who stayed home, however, are in for a treat.

That’s the voice of Captain Pike lecturing Kirk (Chris Pine) on humility … or his lack of it. And then we get Benedict Cumberbatch making threats as the action beats heat up. The final shot is something we’ve discussed – the homage to Spock’s death in Wrath of Khan. But we have to believe that is too obvious of a nod for Abrams to tip his hand this early in the game.

Right?
