After much debate, Marvel announced today (via Hero Complex) that both Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger will be arriving in theaters in both 2D and 3D. It's important to note that both films will convert over to 3D after the fact (a la Clash of the Titans and Alice in Wonderland), but Marvel heads promise they know what they're doing and won't disappoint fans.

Meanwhile, a new Thor image was released along with this info (featuring Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth, complete with Thor hammer), and, well, what's up with the golden eye patch and those fake-looking costumes? Yeah, in case you couldn't tell this image has already been met with some harsh online criticism, especially when it comes to the costumes. Fans are crying that they look too fake, plastic and shiny, while supporters stress that it's only one image and we don't know what it'll look like on the big screen.
'Thor'

Speaking of, expect Marvel to screen some 3D footage from Thor during Comic-Con. Both Thor and Captain America will have panels there, and while the latter just started production and probably won't have much, the former is already done with production and should definitely have a trailer to unveil. Stay tuned to Fandango for reactions from Comic-Con next week.

Are you cool with the image, or does it make you doubt the final outcome of Thor? And what do you think about both films going 3D?
