Last Friday, Paramount pumped the brakes on Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles movie, delaying the reboot until May 2014. Script issues were to blame for the film which is being directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles), though specific points weren't revealed. Courtesy of an interview with TheOneRing.net, we've found out from TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman, that the fight sequences in Bay's Ninja Turtles were influenced by this year's break-out action flick, The Raid as well as the 1994 Jet Li classic Fist of Legend.

In a very long (and by very long, we mean an hour and forty minutes long) interview, Eastman, who is co-writing the TMNT reboot, says the new film won't feature a teenage April O'Neil (1:01:35)

The video begins at 11:55, with almost an hour long discussion about Heavy Metal. At 51:50, there's just general Ninja Turtles discussion, including addressing the alien origins issue saying that the ooze is from outer space, quoting Ninja Turtles comic book #7. Speaking of the comic books, at 1:05:00, Eastman mentions that the original live-action film bridged the gap between the black and white comic books and the cartoon show.

At 1:07:55, a fan floats the idea of casting Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai, Letters from Iwo Jima) as Shredder, which Eastman agrees would be perfect casting.
