Spider-Man

Spider-Man: Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie) will write a treatment for and produce an animated Spider-Man movie. The much-in-demand creative duo will lay out the story for the project, which will exist independently of live-action plans for the lead character. Spider-Man first appeared in an animated series in 1967 (above); the next live-action Spider-Man movie is set for July 28, 2017, with the animated film hitting theaters on July 20, 2018. [EW.com]

 

Vince Gilligan / Mickey and the Beanstalk

Beanstalk: Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad) has written a detailed outline for Beanstalk, described as a "revisionist take" on Jack and the Beanstalk, and sold it to Disney. Gilligan will serve as a producer on the project and may possibly direct; Thomas Schnauz (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) has been hired to write the script. Disney made an animated short version of the tale in 1947 starring Mickey Mouse. [Deadline]

 

Black Mass

Black Mass: Johnny Depp stars in Black Mass as Whitey Bulger, a notorious Boston gangster who cooperated with the FBI before going on the run to avoid prosecution. The first official photo shows his character walking away after murdering a man in a parking lot. Look for the drama in theaters on September 18. [EW.com]

Infini Trailer: The oldest Hemsworth brother is getting into the sci-fi action with the indie movie Infini, out in theaters on May 8.
