Spider-Man: Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie) will write a treatment for and produce an animated Spider-Man movie. The much-in-demand creative duo will lay out the story for the project, which will exist independently of live-action plans for the lead character. Beanstalk: Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad) has written a detailed outline for Beanstalk, described as a "revisionist take" on Jack and the Beanstalk, and sold it to Disney. Gilligan will serve as a producer on the project and may possibly direct; Thomas Schnauz (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) has been hired to write the script. Black Mass: Johnny Depp stars in Black Mass as Whitey Bulger, a notorious Boston gangster who cooperated with the FBI before going on the run to avoid prosecution. The first official photo shows his character walking away after murdering a man in a parking lot. Look for the drama in theaters on September 18. [EW.com]
