Super-Jedi: Production on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is underway, but that doesn't mean director Zack Snyder can't have a little fun. On the eve of Comic-Con, Snyder shared a photo via Twitter showing Henry Cavill, aka Man of Steel, dressed up as a character from Star Wars, with the caption: "#SuperJedi." Snyder's movie is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016. [Twitter]
Painkiller Jane: Twin female directors the Soska sisters (American Mary) will direct a film version of Painkiller Jane, based on a comic book created by Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Quesada. It follows an undercover cop who is tortured by the gang she's investigating, giving her "preternatural regenerating abilities and a high tolerance for pain." The comic has already been adapted for television twice, first as a TV movie and then as a series. [Heat Vision]
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles PSA: Please don't buy turtles for your children just because you love Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That's the message from The American Tortoise Rescue, a nonprofit group in California, which estimates that 90 percent of the turtles purchased in connection with the release of previous TMNT movies or TV shows have died. Also, turtles carry salmonella, and hundreds have become ill in recent years as a result. The group recommends action figures and toys instead of live turtles; we recommend the movie, opening on August 8. [Today]
The Interview Trailer: Now that we know James Franco and Seth Rogen are television people who have been secretly trained by the CIA to assassinate North Korean leader Park Jong-on, we can sit back and enjoy a funny new trailer for The Interview, which reminds us that the movie will seek out viewers in theaters on October 10. [Movies Coming Soon]
