A week before The Green Lantern is set to make its official debut at San Diego Comic-Con with a panel featuring the cast and perhaps a little footage, Entertainment Weekly has revealed an image of Ryan Reynolds in full Green Lantern gear on the cover of their latest issue.
While I'm sure Green Lantern fanatics will fault the costume for missing (or adding) this or that, I think it looks pretty much in line with what we've seen from Green Lantern over the years. Who is Green Lantern anyway? Ever notice how he's one of those superheroes you definitely know of, but you've never really read any of the comics or watched any of the cartoons? Everyone knows Green Lantern, but not many people really know Green Lantern, if you know what I mean.
Seems the film will help us all out by telling an origin story about a test pilot named Hal Jordan who's given a mystical ring that not only gives him magical powers, but also grants him membership to an intergalactic force in charge of keeping peace throughout the universe. And … well, bad guys pop up too. Blake Lively stars in her first blockbuster alongside Reynolds, while Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong and Tim Robbins round out the cast.
