Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls – check out the first official image of Andrew Garfield as your new Spider-Man. It’s an interesting choice for the first image, seeing as it’s dark and brooding, what with the nighttime background and scratches on Spidey’s face. He’s definitely not happy about something, and whatever it was he just fought probably got the best of him.

Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man

Obvious differences between this version and Tobey Maguire’s version are, well, the lack of muscles. I like that personally, because when Peter Parker first starts out as Spider-Man, he’s some wimpy, dorky high school kid who has these new superpowers, yes, but they don’t automatically come with a six pack and arm bombs. Also, the spider in the middle isn’t as well defined as it was on the other suit, which had a lot more red than this one. Sure, it’s a little tight and form fitting, but it seems to work for the character and the actor playing the character.
