The Avengers remains, at the moment, the highest-grossing movie of 2012. It’s sequel probably qualifies as the most-anticipated film of the near future. And only one man knows exactly what’s going to happen in that explosive picture.
Joss Whedon Has Turned in His Outline for 'The Avengers 2'
EW reports that Whedon, who has agreed to return to the director’s chair for the 2015 blockbuster, has turned in his outline for The Avengers 2, and is also shifting gears as he gets ready to direct the pilot for the S.H.I.E.L.D. television program. He says if the series gets picked up, he’ll stay on board as an executive producer and shepherd it along while also preparing Avengers 2.
Do we know anything about the plot? Well, no. Aside from the news that Whedon has turned in his draft, we’re pretty much in the dark.
But in order to know what can happen in the second Avengers movie, Whedon likely knows where our heroes will be at the ends of Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. These sequels will preface the story Whedon can tell in his second Avengers film. They’ll also tie in to the other films in Marvel’s Phase Two – namely Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man (which might actually be a Phase Three movie).
But the wheels officially are spinning for The Avengers 2, with a plotline close to hammered out. It’s time to start getting excited for what could be the most successful movie of 2015 … and beyond.
