Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) should be on top of the world as Iron Man 3 kicks off. He was part of the superhero team that saved New York City from an alien invasion. He has found peace with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and he’s looking forward to leading the charge for clean energy with his powerful company, Stark Industries.  

 

But everything that we have seen for the Iron Man sequel suggests that that Stark is going to fall … hard. In fact, that’s exactly what he’s doing in this new poster that Marvel just unveiled.
 

 

Even this brief tease to the Iron Man commercials that will air during Sunday’s Super Bowl telecast show our hero in despair. His Malibu mansion is toast. He’s ripping his mask off, in obvious pain. Things don’t look good for Stark. 

 

 

Now, heroes often are torn down and tested, only so that they may rise up. Will Iron Man prevail over The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) and Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) … antagonists who want to strip Stark of his personal and professional power? Find out when Iron Man 3 opens in theaters on May 3.
