Ladies and gents -- your first official look at the new Deadpool... in all his chillax'ed-out glory.
You don't even have to be a hard-core, know-every-detail comic fan to know that the Deadpool that first showed up in X-Men Origins: Wolverine wasn't really the Deadpool from the comics. The comic version is a fully masked madman with a death wish and a biting, meta sense of humor.
The Wolverine version was a kind of angsty, ultrapowered mutant who traded a full bodysuit for some scar tissue that covered up his mouth so he couldn't talk.
So you can imagine how stoked comic fans are now after getting to see the first official full-body look at the new, rebooted Deadpool (who is still being played by Ryan Reynolds). Not only is his costume a faithful re-creation of the pen-and-ink version fans have known for two decades, but the re-creation of a classic Burt Reynolds image (potentially NSFW) also manages to show off the movie's faithful port of the masked mercenary's sense of humor.
So, in one image alone, it would seem that Deadpool is finally in safe hands and allowed to be himself. Rejoice!
Deadpool, directed by Tim Miller, hits theaters on February 12, 2016.
