Is George Lucas Working on More 'Star Wars' Movies?
A big rumor landed online over the weekend via IESB, who heard through a LucasFilm inside source that George Lucas was beginning to plan out more Star Wars movies that would arrive in theaters after those 3D versions of the original six films were released. Considering the fact that those won't begin hitting theaters until 2012, these new Star Wars films probably won't see the light of day until somewhere around 2018 or 2019.LucasFilm has already denied this, telling Wired.com that "This is, of course, completely false." However, with Lucas already working on a live-action TV show, as well as more episodes of the animated Clone Wars, there's a pretty good chance that, yes, 10 years from now Star Wars (in some form) will make a triumphant return to movie theaters. Our question to you: Would you support more Star Wars movies, or has this franchise finally run its course?
James Cameron Has Chosen His 'Fantastic Voyage' Director
Nothing is official yet, but 20th Century Fox is itching to kick-start their remake of the 1966 sci-fi film Fantastic Voyage, which James Cameron is producing and sort of taking the reins on. A lot of work has already been done on the upcoming film, including storyboards and concept art, but now they're looking to bring on a director and cast in order to begin filming by early next year.
According to Deadline, Cameron wants Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans, The Incredible Hulk) to tackle the project, which follows a team of scientists who are miniaturized and injected into a human body in order to perform a life-saving procedure, only to wind up on a fantastic adventure throughout the human body instead. Obviously the film will be in 3D, and it sounds like a perfect fit for Leterrier, who's great at delivering big, exciting set pieces.
Four More 'Jackass' Movies in the Works?
Those who absolutely loved watching the Jackass boys return to theaters with Jackass 3D will be happy to learn that they plan to release Jackass 3.5 (which is a collection of stunts that didn't make the movie) in January online and on DVD, prior to them releasing Jackass 3D on DVD. Oh, but that's not all.Also, considering the fact that the movie is currently killing in theaters (over $70 million at the box office so far), naturally Paramount is already busy planning the next one…or four. According to Digital Spy (via Daily Star Sunday), the studio wants at least four more Jackass movies. How these guys will manage to survive four more movies is beyond us.
