It's not much, but we know you hardcore fanboys like updates on any and all forms of progress, so here's the latest: Yesterday, Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Joe Quesada tweeted the following: "Definition of 'goose bumps.' Pressing enter and watching a screenplay entitled "AVENGERS" come out of my printer."

 

Hmmm, sounds to us like the first draft for that Avengers movie has finally been handed in. Zak Penn (who wrote The Incredible Hulk before Edward Norton hijacked it and re-wrote the script) is the one in charge of scripting Avengers, and though it's still way too early to start getting too excited, it's nice to know that train is moving at a steady pace.

The fanboy world was all up in arms after an apparent Captain America synopsis surfaced online via featurefilmcasting [via Collider]. In it, there's a brief description of the Captain America character and his origins, but it's in no way an official synopsis for the film. Maybe a rough description of the first 20 minutes of the film, but that's about it since it leaves out details of his first mission, as well as the big villain Captain America will be up against.

 

What we do know is that production is set to begin this summer, and that Marvel (as well as director Joe Johnston) are real close to signing their guy. From what we know, it's come down to John Krasinski, Scott Porter, Garrett Hedlund, Jensen Ackles, Chace Crawford, Michael Cassidy, and Mike Vogel . A decision was supposed to be made by March 1^st, but that day has come and gone. Hopefully we'll know who the new Captain will be within the next week.

Though those involved with the Indiana Jones franchise (mainly Harrison Ford, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg) have all said they'd be interested in at least one more go-round, for some reason it's still somewhat newsworthy whenever one of those guys decides to throw out a quote that's just a little different from the one he gave the week or month before.

 

This time we're talking about Harrison Ford, who told the BBC that they've "agreed on a germ of an idea and we're seeing what comes of it." Well, hopefully that germ doesn't spread into a nasty virus, because then I don't think I'd want to see what comes of it. We're still a long ways from a germ of an idea to a finished product, especially if Lucas and Spielberg want to film that sucker in 3D (and I think they just might).
