Have you seen Sherlock Holmes yet? Did you like it? Do you want to watch a sequel? Well I should hope so, because with just about $300 million in worldwide box office grosses, it's pretty definite that we're getting a follow up (in fact, Warner Bros. has been planning for this to be a franchise all along). One sign that the sequel could begin production sooner rather than later is that Holmes star Robert Downey Jr. has decided to suddenly drop out of the DreamWorks film Cowboys & Aliens, which is being directed by Iron Man helmer Jon Favreau.
No reason was given as to why Downey Jr. dropped out, and his schedule is pretty clear, so multiple sources are claiming that his departure was directly related to filming Sherlock Holmes 2 as early as this June. But Cowboys & Aliens -- which is based on a graphic novel about a bunch of cowboys and Indians in 1800s Arizona who are forced to team up when aliens arrive hell-bent on enslaving the human race – still has Favreau at the helm (for now), and while Downey Jr. would've made a great cowboy leader, I'm sure there are other actors willing (and able) to take his place.
What do you think? Who'd make a good kickass cowboy? My choice: George Clooney. We haven't really seen him get down and dirty in one of these big effects-laden blockbusters in awhile, and his scruffy appearance combined with those manly ways would make for a perfect cowboy (assuming, of course, he could fit it into his schedule).
Sound off below on your choices to replace Downey Jr.
