Just when you thought the whole Captain America situation couldn't get any stranger comes word of some pretty interesting people who may have also auditioned for a spot to play Marvel's next big superhero. Consider this a bizarre rumor for the time being, but the celeb site Hollywire claims (through their sources) that Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas have "read lines" and are "in contention for both Captain America and other characters in the film."

The Jonas Brothers

Ahem…well, I'm sure there are people who think one of the Jonas brothers would be great in the role of Captain America, but hopefully neither of those people are reading this because I happen to think casting one of those guys in the lead role of a massive Marvel superhero movie would be like re-designing Spider-Man's costume so that it's pink and has flowers all over it.

I mean, c'mon! The Jonas Brothers? Yeah, I watched about 5 minutes of their movie and almost broke my television it was that bad. Don't get me wrong, feel free to throw one of those guys a bone by giving them, like, one speaking line as some random character that has little or nothing to actually do with the story. But as Captain America?

In addition to the Jonas brothers, and guys like John Krasinski (who Fox and Cinematical claim is the frontrunner), Mike Vogel, Patrick Flueger, Chace Crawford and Garret Hedlund are still in the race. Both Scott Porter and Michael Cassidy have confirmed via their Twitter feeds that neither one has scored the role. Also, speaking of celeb Twitter feeds, comedian Dane Cook has also claimed that he tried out for Captain America…though, seeing as he's a comedian and all, that could've very well been a joke.

What do you think of a Jonas brother playing Captain America?
