While the young, kid-oriented films have had their way at the box office these past few weeks, the pre-summer big guns are beginning to creep closer to multiplexes. Some of the month’s most anticipated films (Scream 4, Fast Five) aren’t due out for another week or two, but that doesn’t mean there’s not some good stuff to check out this weekend. Let’s take a look …

Hanna and Your Highness

What’s The Scoop: A 16-year-old (Saoirse Ronan) raised from birth in the woods by her father to become a top assassin is sent on a mission across Europe to hunt down a woman (Cate Blanchett) who’s also hunting her.

Why It Might Win The Weekend: Great buzz (I personally loved this film) and the year’s best score by far (from the Chemical Bros.) make for a fun, action-packed, beat-thompin’ good time at the movies.

What’s The Scoop: In this sorta-spoof of old-school fantasy-adventure movies (think: Krull, Labyrinth), Danny McBride and James Franco play a couple of princes tasked with rescuing a bride-to-be.  Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschanel also star.

Why It Might Win The Weekend: We’ll admit its raunchy R-rating and over-the-top tone may limit the audience somewhat, but we hear this sucker is real funny. So if you’re down for raunchy fantasy spoofs, then this is the movie you’ll want to see this weekend.

Arthur and Soul Surfer

What’s The Scoop: Russell Brand stars in this comedy remake about a wealthy playboy who risks losing his massive inheritance when he falls for a girl his family doesn’t approve of.

Why It Might Win The Weekend: It’s a safe bet for comedy fans, and while many people may not remember the original Arthur, it doesn’t seem like that’s necessary for folks to enjoy this new, updated version.

What’s The Scoop: Inspiring real-life story about a female surfer who loses her arm in a shark attack, but then regroups and makes a triumphant return to the sport she loves.

Why It Might Win The Weekend: Those looking for a sweet, uplifting real-life tale about overcoming obstacles in order to follow your dreams should find this film to be a comforting and easy to digest.

My Prediction: It’s hard to bet against Hop since it did so well last weekend, so I’m going to predict one more win for the animated Easter Bunny flick.

My Pick of the Weekend: Hanna. Seriously, it rocks hard. Go see it.
