Holy Big News Day Batman! Though he won't be officially returning to Gotham City until July 2012, Christopher Nolan has decided to reveal the title of the next Batman movie a little early, giving fans itching for more Bat-news just a taste of what to expect from the third installment. It'll be called The Dark Knight Rises, and according to Nolan – who sat down for a rare interview with Heat Vision – the Riddler will not be one of the film's villains (so pack up those Joseph Gordon-Levitt fantasies now because it ain't gonna happen).

Those bummed about the Riddler news may be happy to learn that Warner Bros. has agreed not to go the 3D route with this installment, despite the fact that most of their other films will hit theaters in the third dimension. Instead, Nolan wants to shoot The Dark Knight Rises just as he did The Dark Knight, by mixing high-definition and IMAX cameras. Hopefully he'll give us a few extra scenes in full IMAX, because those scenes in The Dark Knight really popped.

Nolan remained silent when it came to other villains or who he might cast in the film, though he admitted that the cast will be a mix of the returning actors and a few new ones. Tom Hardy (Inception) is already said to be one of those new actors reportedly playing a villain. Additionally, news is floating around that Nolan is now in search for his lead female, who some speculate may be slipping into Catwoman's shoes.

Do you like the name? Are you upset about the Riddler news? Which villain(s) would you like to see show up in the sequel?
