Biography
In "The Wedding Singer," the nostalgic story of a lonely, Jheri-curled bandleader in the 1980s, Teddy Castellucci appeared on screen as a member of Adam Sandler's ragtag music group, playing with the movie star as the lead pined for the sunny Drew Barrymore. This was the first of several comedies starring Sandler for which Castellucci composed the music; the musician followed the comedian to hell in "Little Nicky," more gently into parenthood in "Big Daddy," from rags to riches in the remake "Mr. Deeds," to holiday cheer in "Eight Crazy Nights," to a football victory in "The Longest Yard," to romance with Barrymore again in "50 First Dates," and even to "Anger Management," with a demoniacal Jack Nicholson. Sandler's fellow "Saturday Night Live" alum Rob Schneider was impressed enough with Castellucci's soft-rock arrangements to retain him for his own comic romps, "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo" and "The Animal." Though Sandler and Castellucci parted ways when the comedian made "Click," their collaboration brought the composer consistent honors and accolades. His scores have appeared in other comedies, like "Wild Hogs" and "Little Man," and the Lindsay Lohan romance "Just My Luck." Songs that he's written have cropped up in films that he didn't compose for as well.
