Sometimes small town boys do end up making it to the big world of film, even if that wasn't what they were aiming for in the first place. Comedic writer/director Sean Anders was born and raised in the village of DeForest, Wisconsin; he left town to be a rock star and soon found himself working with fellow musician John Morris on a no-budget film that mocked the world they wanted to enter. Irreverent and more than a bit odd, ?Never Been Thawed? made the festival rounds in 2005 and quietly sank out of sight. But the film cracked open a few doors for Anders and Morris, and they were offered a chance to work in television. They developed a concept specifically for the new Fox audience in 2006 and the following year were writing the made-for-TV movie ?Playing Chicken? (2007). When the opportunity came up for the two to re-write and for Anders to direct ?Sex Drive? (2008) a new comedy starring internet sensation Clark Duke, they jumped at the chance. Still, Anders knew they were capable of more. In 2008 they began to shop a new idea they had for a script, which landed on the coveted Black List, an industry insider's list of top unproduced screenplays. There it caught the attention of Dreamworks and in 2010 production began on ?She's Out of My League.? The film did well and it added to their reputation as writers, at the same time that Anders was beginning to do more directing. His helming of the Adam Sandler film ?That's My Boy? in 2012 led to his next project and most high-profile project, a pass with Morris on the script of the highly anticipated sequel ?Dumb and Dumber To? (2014), starring Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey.
