Biography
A multitalented artist and accomplished athlete, Romeo turned his dreams into reality before he even hit his teen years. He was born Percy Romeo Miller on Aug. 19, 1989 in New Orleans, LA to hip-hop mogul Percy Miller - best known by his stage name, Master P. The future star was only 5 years old when his father signed him to his No Limit record label. Using the name Lil' Romeo, the pint-sized rapper released his self-titled debut album in 2001, which spawned the hit single "My Baby." The song, which used a sample of the 1969 Jackson 5 classic "I Want You Back," topped the Billboard Hot Rap and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop charts, and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. At age 10, Romeo's "My Baby" beat Michael Jackson's record for being the youngest entertainer to top the Billboard charts. Romeo made his feature film debut with a minor role in the family comedy, "Max Keeble's Big Move" (2001). He soon landed various guest appearances on television and was cast in a supporting role opposite Jessica Alba in the feature "Honey" (2003). In the film, Romeo played a young street dancer who befriends music video choreographer Honey Daniels (Alba). For four seasons, he starred on "Romeo!" (Nickelodeon, 2003-06), a family comedy series about an aspiring rapper and middle school basketball star who never loses his cool, despite living with a nutty family. Not only an actor and recording artist, Romeo attended Beverly Hills High School and played on the basketball team. He was granted a scholarship to the University of Southern California, where he studied business and film. As the Trojans' point guard, Romeo helped his team make USC history by winning their first Pac-10 championship. He returned to acting in 2011 in the comedy feature "Jumping the Broom" opposite Angela Bassett. That same year, Romeo competed on the 12th season of the hit reality series, "Dancing with the Stars" (ABC, 2005- ).
