Biography
Lyric Lewis was an American television actress who broke out in early 2018 when she joined the cast of the Seth Meyers-produced NBC sitcom "A.P. Bio" (NBC, 2018). Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she was reared as a die-hard Saints fan, Lewis always had a desire to perform. When she was still a young girl she moved with her family to blistery Minnesota, where her passion for acting only intensified. After dabbling in performing arts in high school, she decided to take her burgeoning career to the next level by enrolling in Syracuse University as a theater major. Lewis appeared in numerous plays while attending Syracuse, thus honing her skills for performance in front of a live audience. While attending Syracuse, Lewis began to notice that she had a knack for being funny on stage. Hence, after graduating with a BFA in Theater from the university, Lewis packed her bags and moved to sunny Los Angeles to embark on a comedic acting career in television. Before achieving success on the small screen, however, Lewis decided to take a few improv classes at the world famous Groundlings Theater on Melrose. Lewis loved the energy of performing improvised comedy nightly in front of a crowd, and quickly rose to become one of Groundlings' standout performers. It wasn't long before Hollywood casting agents took notice. After appearing in a number of short films, Lewis nabbed her first notable, but small, TV part in 2015 on the Fox sitcom "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (Fox, 2013- ). The following year she appeared in The CW's revived version of the classic 90s sketch comedy series "MADtv" (The CW, 2016). No new episodes of the revamped "MADtv", however, were made after 2016. Undeterred, Lewis continued nabbing small parts on TV shows like "Baskets" (FX, 2016- ), and the animated series "SuperMansion" (Crackle, 2015- ). Then in early 2018 Lewis landed her breakout role when she was cast on the NBC sitcom "A.P. Bio." The series, which premiered on the network in February of 2018, was produced by Lorne Michaels and Seth Meyers.
