Biography
Actress and musician Heidi Swedberg was born in Honolulu, HI. Her mother was a school teacher, and her father was a laser physicist. Swedberg was raised in Albequerque, New Mexico, where she attended Sandia High School. After graduating from high school, Swedberg relocated to Kentucky where she spent time at the Actors Theatre of Louisville. Her film debut came in 1989 in Norman Jewison's "In Country," about a young woman's search for information about her Vietnam veteran father. Swedberg followed up this appearance with roles in three 1990 movies, the Winona Ryder vehicle "Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael," "Too Much Sun" and the Arnold Schwarzenegger hit "Kindergarten Cop." In 1992, Swedberg was cast in what would be her most recognized role, in the iconic '90s comedy "Seinfeld" (NBC 1989-1997). Swedberg played Susan Ross, the fiancé of character George Costanza. The character of Susan was killed off after 29 episodes in a controversial season finale that had Susan die from licking toxic envelopes for the wedding invitations. Following her stint on "Seinfeld," Swedberg appeared in several television series, including "Empty Nest" (NBC 1988-1995), "Grace Under Fire" (ABC 1993-98), and the TV movie "Breast Men" (HBO 1997). In addition to her acting career, Swedberg was a professional musician, playing the ukulele in The Sukey Jump Band.
