Biography
British actress Hannah John-Kamen enjoyed recurring roles in crime noir "The Tunnel" (Sky Atlantic, 2013-) and space adventure "Killjoys" (Space, 2015-) before heading into blockbuster territory with supporting parts in "Tomb Raider" (2018) and "Ready Player One" (2018). Born in Anlaby, East Yorkshire in 1989 to a Norwegian fashion model mother and Nigerian forensic psychologist father, John-Kamen trained at London's National Youth Theatre and Central School of Speech and Drama, going on to make her screen debut in a 2011 episode of cult sci-fi hit "Misfits" (E4, 2009-2013). A year later she landed bit-parts in grisly whodunnit "Whitechapel" (ITV, 2009-2013), lottery winners drama "The Syndicate" (BBC One, 2012-15) and musical comedy "The Midnight Beast" (E4, 2012-14), enjoyed a three-episode stint as Costa Rican burlesque dancer Rosa Maria Ramirez in 1950s newsroom drama "The Hour" (BBC One, 2011-12), and was cast as the lead Roxy in the Spice Girls' short-lived West End jukebox musical "Viva Forever." Following a one-off appearance in beachside murder mystery "Death in Paradise" (BBC One, 2011-), John-Kamen played office worker Justine in gritty crime drama "Happy Valley" (BBC One, 2014-16), starred as Violet in the third episode of LGBT anthology "Banana" (E4, 2015) and played long-suffering wife Nahlab in biblical TV movie "The Ark" (BBC One, 2015). Her international profile grew considerably when she bagged the role of interplanetary bounty hunter Dutch in sci-fi series "Killjoys" (Space, 2015-) and briefly appeared as a First Order Officer in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (2015). In 2016 she added "Game of Thrones" (HBO, 2011-) to her resume with a two-episode spell as Daenerys' trusted ally Ornela and showed up as political activist Rosa Persaud in the "Sabotage" season of "The Tunnel" (Sky Atlantic, 2013-). Having played ABBA-singing talent show contestant Selma in the "15 Million Merits" episode of "Black Mirror" (Channel 4, 2011-), John-Kamen then returned to Charlie Brooker's nightmarish anthology to play video game journalist Sonja in "Playtest." John-Kamen then signed up to play Lara Croft's roommate Sophie in the reboot of "Tomb Raider" (2018) and star in Steven Spielberg's sci-fi adventure, "Ready Player One" (2018).
