Biography
Despite growing up in Australia, Freya Tingley quickly established herself as an All-American teenager thanks to major roles in Eli Roth horror show "Hemlock Grove" (Netflix, 2013-) fairy tale reimagining "Once Upon A Time" (ABC, 2011-) and campy high school drama "The Choking Game" (Lifetime, 2014). Born in Perth, Australia in 1994, Tingley initially pursued a career in modelling before developing a love of acting, making her debut as Young Joan in The Black Swan Theatre Company's 2008 production of Caryl Churchill's play Far Away. Following appearances in short films "Bootleg" (2009), "Light As A Feather" (2010) and "Beneath The Waves" (2011), a two-episode stint as Hat Lamb in the adaptation of Tim Winton's novel, "Cloudstreet" (Showcase, 2011), and a big-screen debut in the erotic thriller "X: Night Of Vengeance" (2011), Tingley moved to Los Angeles with her family in a bid to land higher profile roles. The move paid off two years later when she was cast as Christina Wendall, the aspiring novelist who begins to suspect that her friend Peter may be a serial-killing werewolf, in supernatural horror "Hemlock Grove" (Netflix, 2013-). Shortly after, Tingley bagged another major part in the shape of Wendy Darling, the 13-year-old heroine from Peter Pan, in the second season of hit fantasy drama "Once Upon A Time" (ABC, 2011-). After taking on the role of London in Jean-Claude Van Damme action thriller "Swelter" (2014), Tingley portrayed the 17-year-old version of Frankie Valli's tragic daughter Francine in Clint Eastwood's adaptation of the hugely successful Broadway musical, "Jersey Boys" (2014). In the same year, Tingley also took the lead role of Taryn, a high school outsider who attempts to fit in with the in-crowd by experimenting with asphyxiation in TV movie "The Choking Game" (Lifetime, 2014).
