Long before 'Jump Street' jumped onto the big screen, buddy-cop films were pulling in big audiences. Some of these odd pairings worked out perfectly, while others went straight to the dogs.
Collision Course (1989)
Maybe pairing Jay Leno up with Pat Morita in a buddy-cop film wasn't the best idea, but the film isn't really all that bad -- unless you actually watch it.
Turner & Hooch (1989)
Before winning an Oscar, Tom Hanks's career went to the dogs -- though in this case, it was for one of the most successful human cop/dog cop pairings of all time.
Top Dog (1995)
It is a good thing Chuck Norris knows how to kick butt, because he surely had to defend himself after making this dog of a film.
Theodore Rex
If you thought appearing on screen with a dog was tough, try a dinosaur. No doubt Whoopi Goldberg wishes this film would go extinct just like the dinosaurs.
Partners (1982)
Pairing a straight cop up with a gay cop probably sounded like a good idea back in 1982. But in 2014, not watching this film sounds like an even better idea.
White Chicks (2004)
Pairing Shawn and Marlon Wayans up in a buddy-cop film can only mean box office gold...unless they are playing white chicks. Ouch!
Alien Nation (1988)
Adding a new spin to the old mismatched-cop pairing, this film gets an "A" for originality for pairing a human up with an alien.
Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot (1992)
Whoever paired Sylvester Stallone up with Estelle Getty should be forced to watch this film nonstop until they promise to never do anything like this ever again -- otherwise the audience might shoot.
Cop And A Half (1993)
Cop and a Half = Bad and a Half.
Freebie and the Bean (1974)
The grandfather of all modern buddy-cop films, Alan Arkin and James Caan went together "just like peaches and cream."
Loose Cannons (1990)
Gene Hackman and Dan Aykroyd are on the hunt for a Nazi sex tape featuring Hitler. Yikes!
Dead Heat (1988)
Treat Williams and Joe Piscopo star in a buddy-cop film that had audiences wishing the buddy cop genre was dead.
Who's the Man? (1993)
MTV stars' Ed Lover and Dr. Dre played buddy cops in a film that left audiences asking "Who's the man that made this awful film?"
K-9 (1989)
Jim Belushi got more than fleas when he starred in one of the first successful human cop/dog cop movies.
Double Team (1997)
Dennis Rodman and Jean-Claude Van Damme! If these guys really wanted to catch a bad guy, they should have gone after everyone responsible for producing this flick.
