'Guardians of the Galaxy': Get to know Marvel's Newest Heroes
"'Star Wars' with superheroes" best describes Marvel's upcoming blockbuster, 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' Before the film hits theaters on August 1, here's a quick primer on Hollywood's five newest comic book heroes.
Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt)
The self-proclaimed Star-Lord is the Guardians' human leader. Half Han Solo, half Mal Reynolds, Quill's job is to protect the universe by punching those who threaten it.
Drax the Destroyer (David Bautista)
Like another Marvel hero, Drax is big, green and angry -- lucky for us, this crazy strong super-human is on our side.
Gamora (Zoe Saldana)
If your father was Thanos, a tyrannical alien obsessed with death, you'd be an expert at hand-to-hand combat, too. Gamora has serious daddy issues, which she takes out on her enemies with the help of her fists.
Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel)
All intergalactic crime-fighting teams need a sentient, battle-ready tree who only says "I am Groot." Make it happen, space!
Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper)
Rocket's just your average, genetically engineered, alien raccoon and automatic-weapons enthusiast. He also talks and likes fast ships, naturally. No wonder this guy's a fan favorite!
