Superheroes getting new suits in each new movie is a time-honored tradition. It's a great excuse for a studio to sell new toys, but in a lot of cases it can be justified within the actual movie. In The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man needs a special suit to keep the Incredible Hulk in check--a need he didn't have in earlier movies. We got to see Batman make his special Superman-busting suit in Batman v Superman, and now that that issue is resolved, the caped crusader has busted out the sewing machine for a different wardrobe than the one he had in both BvS and Suicide Squad.
Zack Snyder revealed the picture (which we have brightened above for more visibility) on Twitter, referring to it as the "new Tactical Batsuit." Of course he doesn't explain what exactly is tactical about it (does it have new gadgets?), but it certainly looks like its segmented parts give him all kinds of mobility. So now we just have to wonder what Batman - and presumably the rest of the Justice League - are fighting that requires the new duds? And who was it that made a dent in the batsuit's chest plate? We also have to wonder why it looks like the Batmobile is about to be dropped out of the back of a cargo plane with missiles ready.
But we're sure these are questions that will be answered in due time. One question we're not quite sure will be answered, though, is why this Tactical Batman looks like he took some slicked-back eye and ear piece notes from Zack Snyder's first superhero movie, Watchmen.
Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
