In a photo finish, The Lion King 3D was able to retain the top spot at the box office for a second weekend. Moneyball and Dolphin Tale duked it out for second, with Brad Pitt’s baseball drama edging the feel-good family flick by a few hundred thousand dollars to claim second.

Meanwhile, Abduction, headlined by Taylor Lautner, finished fourth despite harsh reviews from critics that plummeted the movie’s freshness rating over on RottenTomatoes to 3%. The movie would have been the worst-reviewed film of the year, if not for Bucky Larson’s 0% rating. It was also the Most Anticipated September Movie according to our poll from earlier this month.

The other movie that opened this past weekend was the Jason Statham-Robert DeNiro-Clive Owen action movie Killer Elite, which pulled in $9.5 million to claim the fifth spot, just ahead of Contagion.

Now that we’ve recapped the numbers, it’s time to see what you thought of the new releases. Did Moneyball and Dolphin Tale live up to the strong reviews it received? Was Abduction really that bad? And what did action fans think of Killer Elite? Sound off in the polls below and feel free to expand on your thoughts in the comment section.
