Who Will Win the Weekend: 'Adventureland' or 'Fast & Furious'?

Gentlemen (and women), start your engines – it’s time to take a look at which films are arriving in theaters this weekend, and then taking a wild guess as to who will win the weekend box office. Two very different movies are entering the race this week, with one coming from the guy who brought us the hilarious Superbad, and the other coming as part of a very popular (and furious) franchise. Check ‘em out:

Adventureland
What’s the Scoop: From director Greg Mottola (Superbad) comes this coming-of-age summertime flick set in the 1980s about a smarter-than-his-own-good dude (Jesse Eisenberg) who, upon learning his parents can’t afford to pay for his college, must get a low-rent job at the seedy Adventureland theme park in order to pay the bills.
Why It Might Win the Weekend:  Not only are the kids itching for some more Superbad humor, but this flick also stars Kristen Stewart – who, in case you forgot, is now carrying around her own massive Twilight-related fanbase.

Fast & Furious
What’s the Scoop: For this fourth installment in the popular underground racing franchise, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez return after starring in the original. Other than that … um, fast cars, hot babes and a whole lotta fast and furious action.
Why It Might Win the Weekend: This film has the perfect combination of street cred, pretty faces and cool automobiles – it’s almost like a drug for antsy teenagers looking to get out of the house for a few hours. How can they resist this one? It’s impossible!

Before you make your decision, know that as of right now Fandango is tracking Fast & Furious in the lead with 53% of ticket sales, however last week’s winner Monsters vs. Aliens isn’t too far behind with 20%. I think the cars will beat out the monsters (and aliens), but what do you think? Sound off below …
