Joel and Ethan Coen won Oscars for their contemporary Western No Country for Old Men, and now they're back with a real deal Western that has Oscar written all over it. The film is True Grit, and it's a remake of the 1969 movie starring John Wayne, Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper, Glen Campbell and Kim Darby, among others. The original – as well as the new remake from the Coen Bros. – follows the exploits of a young girl who convinces a U.S. Marshal and a Texas Ranger to help her hunt down the man who killed her father.

'True Grit'

In the 2010 version (due out this Christmas), Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon will play that Marshal and Texas Ranger, respectively, with the girl being played by newcomer Hailee Steinfeld. Joining the Coens for what he hopes will be another Oscar victory lap is Josh Brolin, however this time he's playing the bad guy (ie: the man they're trying to hunt down).

Yahoo has just debuted the full-length trailer for the film (after a brief teaser was released last week), and it looks all sorts of brilliant (even if it does kinda give away a little too much of the plot). The Coen boys seem like they're at their best when they have tons of wide open land to play around with, and as such the film looks packed with beautiful landscapes, hard-nosed lawmen, plenty of gunplay and some of that old, reliable Coen bros. humor. Watch it below and let us know what you think.
