It’s no surprise that the first words we’re greeted with in this trailer for Immortals is “From the Producers of 300” since it’s oozing with the same sort of hyper-stylized flair. Plus, we also get lots of epic battle shots full of shirtless warriors taking on powerful gods, monsters and all sorts of other strange, mythical creations. Like 300 and the more recent Clash of the Titans, Immortals is visually stunning – like watching a beautiful moving painting – though we’ll have to wait till November 11th to see if there’s some substance to go along with all the fancy imagery.
Knowing this comes from director Tarsem Singh (The Fall, The Cell) is comforting in that we’re assured of an amazing, awe-inspiring visual journey, at the very least. The trailer doesn’t tell you much about the plot, though we know it follows the Greek warrior Thesus (Henry Cavill) as he battles a number of nasty titans, with appearances from all the Greek gods you learned about in school, like Zeus (Luke Evans), Athena (Isabel Lucas), Apollo (Cprey Sevier) and more. Mickey Rourke plays the evil King Hyperion, while Freida Pinto (remember her from Slumdog Millionaire) takes on the lovely Phaedra.
