As The Expendables 2 inches closer to the start of shooting in Bulgaria at the end of the month, Sylvester Stallone spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the expanding cast list and what moviegoers can expect in this second outing.

Recently added action icon Jean-Claude Van Damme was revealed last week to play the villain with fellow martial arts action star Scott Adkins as his cohort. Stallone now confirms that he will have a showdown with the Muscles from Brussels.

“We’ll have a big showdown with me and Van Damme, which has been anticipated for a long time, so it should be a good one,” Stallone said.

Unlike with the first Expendables movie, this time Stallone is only working in front of the camera, handing the directing duties to Con Air’s Simon West. Nicolas Cage, who starred in Con Air has long been rumored as one of the final pieces to the Expendables cast and Stallone addressed the issue.

“We’ve got Chuck Norris and I think Nic Cage. We’re trying to work out different scenarios. I like using people that had a moment and then maybe have fallen on some hard times and give them another shot. So we’re always looking for actors like Michael Biehn and Michael Pare. I like those kind of guys.”

Stallone also said there will be a need for new blood in the Expendables roster, a Navy SEAL-type, because, “with the Expendables, none of them have 20-20 vision anymore. They need some help, man.”

John Travolta’s name continues to linger in rumor-ville as well, though Stallone said it’s purely a scheduling issue with him. “It’s not financial. It’s just that Bulgaria is definitely a jaunt. It’s a commitment, you know what I mean? Especially in the dead of winter.”

Does this movie need any more stars? Would you like to see Travolta or Cage added to the casting list or do we have enough famous faces?
