There has been a lot of discussion about a potential sequel for Dumb & Dumber and it seems we're nowhere closer to it actually happening. Jeff Daniels, who is currently busy with the HBO series The Newsroom, says the film is set to begin production next year.
"Jim wants to do it. I want to do it. The Farrelly brothers want to do it. They want to rewrite the script a little bit and they aren't trying to jam it in before I have to go back and do Newsroom in November," Daniels said. "So they're going, 'Why don't we just do it right? Let's get everybody organized to go net May or June.' If everything works out on the business side, that's what we'll do but I think there's more hope than ever."
Jim Carrey had stated a few months ago that the sequel was dead. The actor removed himself for any planned production citing that he was frustrated with the "are we, aren't we, what's going on, yeah the script's funny, no it's not," see-saw during development.

Meanwhile, another franchise currently on hold is Saw. Bloody-Disgusting reports that a reboot of the franchise is being considered, but that the plan is currently in the "infancy" stage.
There were rumors earlier this year that Lionsgate was planning on rebooting the franchise, but nothing further was announced. News that the studio is looking leaning toward a reboot suggests the Saw franchise isn't dead quite yet.
The last Saw film, Saw 3D, arrived in theaters in 2010 and was touted as the final film in the seven-film series. Though it has never been a hit with critics, Saw 3D managed to pull in $136 million worldwide on a $20 million budget, proving that there's still money to be made in the series.
