It's one of the longest running controversies in all of nerdom -- did Han Solo shoot first when confronted by Greedo in the cantina during the first Star Wars movie. 

If you're not much of a Star Wars fan, the line above may not make a lick of sense. But any casual Star Wars watcher knows exactly what we're talking about, and while the original version of Star Wars pretty clearly shows Han shooting Greedo before Greedo could even think about firing his own blaster, George Lucas' edits to the film years later have been divisive because they seem to show Greedo shooting first.

Thus the debate raged on.

But now Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew wants to settle it once and for all by posting actual pages from the original script on Twitter that seem to clearly indicate Han Solo wiping out Greedo before the green dude knew what hit him.



Back in 2012 Lucas tried to argue that it was indeed Greedo who shot first by explaining that you just couldn't see it in the original shot. "It had been done in all close-ups and it was confusing about who did what to whom," he told THR. "I put a little wider shot in there that made it clear that Greedo is the one who shot first, but everyone wanted to think that Han shot first, because they wanted to think that he actually just gunned him down."

These script pages seem to go against that statement, though, as there's no mention of Greedo firing his blaster, only Han. Here's a larger image of the script page below. What do you think?
