With all these action-heavy, male-dominated blockbusters taking over movie theaters this summer, it's time we make room for a rough-and-tough, coming-of-age story about girls who beat each other up on roller-skates. Drew Barrymore makes her directorial debut with Whip It, which, based on the newly-released trailer, looks like it could be the break-out hit of the fall. Ellen Page also stars as a cute-but-shy-and-quiet-type who befriends some girls (including Barrymore) and winds up involved in female roller derby matches. Cue lots of hitting and punching. Good times! [Watch trailer over at Yahoo]

Judd Apatow: Blogger

In anticipation of his new film Funny People (which hits theaters on July 31), writer-director-producer Judd Apatow is doing a little blogging for MTV. In his latest blog, Apatow talks about how they went about creating all the fake movies included within the real film. Confused?

See, Adam Sandler plays an aging comic actor who, throughout his career, has starred in a number of really lame high-concept movies. Not too far off from the truth, but in this case they needed to create a whole bunch of really cheesy movies to help make his character more believable and to also add a little window dressing to the film itself. Check out Apatow's thoughts on the process, as well as watch scenes from three of the many fake movies, over at MTV.

Emma Watson to Work with Marilyn Manson on …a Cinderella Musical?

So far not-so-young-anymore Harry Potter star Emma Watson hasn't drifted very far from the series that handed her a career in movies. While fellow co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint have each explored their options outside the Potter camp, Watson has remained close to home…until now (we think).

According to Britain's The Sun, Watson might be shedding her good-girl image in spectacular fashion by teaming up with Marilyn Manson (of all people) on a Goth-inspired version of Cinderella for the stage. No official word on when and where this musical will take place, but Watson will apparently play a princess of some kind.

What do you fans think: Is this really the best gig for Watson to take on post-Potter?
