Natalie Portman Denies 'Batman' and 'Superman' Movie Rumors
Not long ago, Natalie Portman was rumored to be in the running for roles in both the upcoming Superman and Batman movies. Naturally she was one of many ladies on the initial shortlists, though there wasn't anything substantial except exactly that: Her name on a shortlist. Now that the actress is pregnant and due in 2011, however, what are the chances she'll take on an action-intensive role in a big franchise superhero film like Batman or Superman? Well, not good.
When asked recently whether she was lining up parts in either superhero movie, Portman laughed off the questions, saying "Oh, I don't know anything about that." Of course she could be playing coy with reporters, though with Thor coming out in May, as well as a baby due later this year, expect Portman to skip out on either of these two films unless the role calls for her to be pregnant.'24' Movie Not Happening?
Those still clinging to the hopes that 20th Century Fox will at some point make a big-screen 24 movie may need to prepare themselves for another setback. 24 producer Howard Gordon recently told Entertainment Weekly that the whole thing is currently on pause. ""As far as I know, it is in suspended animation. There is talk about re-approaching it. I understand (director/producer) Tony Scott is meeting with Kiefer to talk about ideas. People are still talking about it."
The big question is: Are you still talking about it?
'Monsters, Inc. 2' to be a Prequel?If you haven't noticed by now, Pixar is on a big sequel kick. They did very well with Toy Story 3 in 2010 (it was the highest grossing film of the year), and they have Cars 2 arriving this June. It was also recently announced that Monsters, Inc 2. was on the horizon and currently set for a November 2, 2012 release. On that note, The Playlist reports (via the forums of a French website) that Pixar may be planning a prequel with their Monsters, Inc. sequel.
According to the site (who received a catalog given to theater owners by Disney), the prequel will follow Mike and Sully when they were both enrolled at the University of Fear, and how, at first, they were enemies before becoming the best of friends.
Sounds like a good direction for the sequel/prequel. What do you think?
