Sam WorthingtonNow that Avatar has become the highest grossing movie of all time, it's safe to say that film's star, Sam Worthington, has become a household name, or is at least a lot more recognizable than he was prior to Avatar. With another mega, effects-laden spectacular (Clash of the Titans) set to hit theaters in a couple months, Worthington – with his good looks, action hero charm and ability to kick lots of butt – could soon become one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood (if he isn't already). So what's he going to do next? How about Dracula?

Yup, in an attempt to rebuild Universal's monster brand, apparently they're getting ready to jump from The Wolfman to Dracula, and Latino Review says Sam Worthington is circling the part of the infamous vampire. The film, titled Dracula: Year Zero, will be a period piece that talks about the origins of Dracula. One imagines the movie  – which is being tentatively set for a summer 2011 release – won't get the official greenlight until Universal sees how The Wolfman does at the box office.

I don't know about this one. Worthington, in my opinion, is a very boring actor who doesn't bring much of anything to the table. Just thinking about him all decked out in Dracula gear attempting to suck the blood from some unnamed model's neck gives me the bad kind of goosebumps. Plus, will audiences flock to period monster movies? That's not a slam against the old school monster flicks at all (I happen to love a bunch of them), but I don't know if today's youth will dig a classic Dracula origin story unless it's set in a contemporary high school and stars some young hottie like Zac Efron or R-Patz.

What do you think? Would you get behind a new Dracula movie? Would you support Sam Worthington in the lead role? Sound off below…
