He's battled tigers with tridents, fired six-shooters alongside Batman and squared off with Denzel.
"He" is Oscar-winner Russell Crowe, who is poised to add "saving lives from mankind-destroying water" to his list of Badass Movie Moments with the release of Friday's Noah.
As the biblical epic gets ready to hit theaters, Fandango looks back at five of the actor's best scenes in the badassery department.
1. Gladiator: "I Will Have My Vengeance" Speech
The only thing better than the gladiatorial battle preceding this speech is, well, this speech. I mean, there isn't one member of the audience who didn't want to find a way to recite this epic monologue in real life. It's so good.
2. 3:10 to Yuma: "Gonna Hang Me in the Evening…"
Let this be a lesson to all you would-be Wild West thugs out there: Never taunt a bank-robbing murderer right before falling asleep next to him. That ends in all sorts of badness. Also death.
3. Gladiator: "Unleash hell"
Our last badass moment from this much-loved 2000 film is one of the epic's first scenes introducing us to Maximus. Should we ever find ourselves facing a horde of war-loving murder-lympians, we hope our final command to the troops is as iconic and quotable as this one.
4. American Gangster: "Crowe: 1, Drug Dealers 0"
As much as we love Crowe and Denzel's interrogation room back-and-forth – Gangster's version of the coffee shop scene in Heat – we gotta give a slight edge to a gun-wielding Crowe literally kicking down the doors of a drug den. More foot chases should be this exciting.
5. Master and Commander: Johnny SeaBattle
Only Crowe could make a violin duet with his medical officer look remotely badass worthy. But in a movie full of sea-faring cannon battles, we'd be remiss if we didn't give some love to Crowe's expert command of his ship at war during one of the greatest sea battles in the history of always. He makes swashbuckling look like old-timey Parkour!
