This Is the End: What happens when Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel go to James Franco's house for an star-studded party the night the world ends? Lots of celebs die terrible deaths (Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Michael Cera -- hilariously coked out and playing grab-ass with a pissed-off Rihanna) while Rogen, Franco and Baruchel survive, with fellow bros Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson and Danny McBride, to ride out the firestorm as horned monsters get all biblical on Los Angeles and an ax-wielding Emma Watson shows up to take the boys' supplies. The best jokes come in the first half; it loses a little steam by the second, but you still can't help but love these guys sending themselves up along with the rest of Hollywood while they get high, battle CGI demons and make porno jokes. The Croods: Just going to prove that family squabbles and willful teenagers have been around for a verrrry long time is this prehistoric animated adventure, which follows the titular family as they hit the road looking for a new home. Nic Cage is the voice of Grug, the patriarch fearful of new experiences, while Emma Stone voices his obstinate daughter Eep. Once she meets the nomadic, fire-wielding Guy (Ryan Reynolds), all bets are off. When a landslide destroys the Croods' cave, they're forced to get out into the big, bad world, encountering fantastic and colorful creatures (flocks of pink birds, whales that live on land, blue tigers) -- and some scary situations involving lava and human-hunting animals. The movie is rated PG, so keep that in mind when showing your young ones.
