Movie News: 'It' Director Eyed for 'Dracula' Prequel

Dracul: Paramount Pictures wants Andy Muschietti (It, above) to direct Dracul, described as "the first prequel authorized by the estate of Bram Stoker," the author of the original Dracula. Universal previously released the origin story Dracula Untold (2014), but the new movie will forge its own vision, following a script by Dacre Stoker and J.D. Barker about a 21-year-old Stoker who meets "an ungodly evil" and traps it in an ancient tower. [Deadline]

 

Sheena

Sheena: Queen of the Jungle: A new version of Sheena: Queen of the Jungle is on its way to the big screen. First published in 1937, the comic book character was an orphan who grew up in the jungle and could communicate with wild animals. Tanya Roberts starred in a film version, Sheena, in 1984 (above). The new movie is aiming to start production next summer. [Deadline]

 

Buster's Mal Heart

Bohemian Rhapsody: Our first look at Bohemian Rhapsody reveals Rami Malek (above in Buster's Mal Heart) in fine form as Freddie Mercury (below), lead singer of the classic rock band Queen. Bryan Singer (X-Men: Apocalypse) is directing the musical biography, which will follow the band from their formation in 1970 to 1985, some six years before the singer died. [EW.com]

 

Christian Bale

Hostiles Teaser: Christian Bale (above) stars in the first teaser for Hostiles. Bale stars as a legendary Army captain who escorts a Cheyenne chief and his family through dangerous territory in 1892.
