UPDATE: Since yesterday, Bay has commented on the story below saying, "Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world."
 

You've got to give up to Michael Bay. The guy really knows how to get people talking. Mind you, most of what's being said regarding the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle reboot isn't exactly positive or family-friendly, but face it, this many people haven't been talking about the heroes in a half shell in quite a while.

For those who haven't heard, Bay was quoted over the weekend as saying, "These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable."

Bay is taking a producer credit for the reboot and is handing the director's chair to Battle: Los Angeles director Jonathan Liebesman. He didn't go into further detail about these new Teenage Mutant Alien Ninja Turtles, but the news certainly has to make TMNT fans a bit nervous.
