Happy Birthday, Kristen Stewart!
In honor of the actress' 25th birthday this week -- as well as her new movie, Clouds of Sils Maria, arriving in theaters this Friday -- we put together this tribute. Check it out.
10 Things You May Not Know About Kristen Stewart
Kristen Stewart was born on April 9, 1990, to stage manager John Stewart and script supervisor Jules Mann-Stewart, whose credits include Jingle All the Way and Crank: High Voltage. Here’s what Kristen looked like as a baby:
Her first role was at age 9, as a non-credited extra in the 1999 Disney Channel TV movie The Thirteenth Year, which her mom worked on. See her waiting for a drinking fountain in her one scene:
Her next appearance was in The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas. We only got to see the back of her head on screen as she plays ring toss, but here’s a behind-the-scenes photo of Stewart in prehistoric costume:
Stewart broke out in David Fincher’s Panic Room, but her first speaking role was playing Patricia Clarkson’s daughter in the 2001 drama The Safety of Objects. Watch some of her scenes here:
The following year, she starred in this TV commercial for Porsche:
One movie you’ve probably never seen is 2007’s Cutlass, starring Stewart as the daughter of Kurt Russell. Russell’s stepdaughter, Kate Hudson, wrote and directed the short, which you can watch in full here:
Of course, in 2008, Stewart’s career exploded thanks to the Twilight franchise. Get a feel for what it was like in Hall H during the first movie’s Comic-Con presentation:
In late 2013, the actress became the new face for a Chanel fashion collection. See her behind the scenes at a photo shoot with Karl Lagerfeld:
Last year, she made her co-directorial debut with the music video for Sage + The Saints’ “Take Me to the South”:
In February 2015, Stewart became the first American actress to win a Cesar, aka France’s Academy Award, for her performance in Clouds of Sils Maria. Watch her shocked and nervous acceptance speech:
